Grass Roots Tour – The Lagoon Stop

We couldn’t have asked for better weather! A summer’s day at the end of September provided us with great conditions for the last stop in the London/South region.

Forty wakeboarders turned up from across the UK to take part in the competition, practice started at 1300 allowing everyone some time to get used to the set up before the competition later in the day.

CK Koster & Adam May were on hand to give out some coaching tips to all the riders and Nik from Bro Clothing was the MC for the day.

First up were Junior Rookies, which was one of the bigger categories with 9 riders competing for the top spot. Lots of our local riders entering their first ever comp – good work guys!

Next up were the Ladies Rookies – Mia Cooper was on form with an awesome run leading her in to first place, followed closely behind by Sian Carr.

Mens Rookie had 4 competitors battling it out, with Ben Watson winning the category.

On to the Ladies Open with 4 ladies showing some high standards of riding, with Claudia Albrecht and Rosalia Alfaro fighting it out for top spot. Claudia was busting out some high raleys which ensured her a first place.

Next up was Junior Intermediate and the standard again was high. Haydn Bennett demonstated some massive raleys and backrolls and Buddy Redman proved his technical ability on the rails. Haydn eventually took first place.

Mens open had a great turn out with 9 competitors – again the standard was high with Zac Charalambous taking 1^st followed by Craig Smart and in 3^rd our own wake coach Alex Mason.

Finishing off the event was Mens Open with the standard as high as their air tricks! Dale Crossley kept the crowd entertained with his huge airs and finally took top spot.

A great day – massive thanks to all the riders, CK and Adam for coaching and judging, Nik from Bro Clothing for bringing down his awesome clothes, supplying some prizes and doing the MC’ing and The Mute Collective for coming down and supporting and giving us some amazing prizes.
